Salvi Vivai is the branch dedicated to growing nursery plants. It is part of the Salvi Group, a Ferrara company operating in the fruit and vegetable marketing sector. Salvi Vivai nurseries selects and tests the main innovations in the varietal and agronomic field concentrating energies and knowledge particularly on strawberry plants, fruit trees and rootstocks. In the beginning, our aim was to grow plants to satisfy the demands of the Salvi Group fruit companies and, in general, of the associated growers and fruit contributors. Subsequently, since the initiative met with success, we decided on further investment in growing plants in order to develop sales on a domestic and international scale. Salvi Vivai nurseries is the innovation core of the Salvi Group, and for years has been committed to the R&D of the most effective cultivation techniques, genetic experimentation and varietal innovation. Salvi Vivai nurseries is one of the Italian companies that introduced products with the “virus-exempt”, adhering to voluntary plant health certification.

Overcoming day by day the challenges that fruit growing  places on our way through research, experimentation and innovation, never forgetting respect for the environment: these are the Salvi Vivai nursery goals. The company aims at enhancing the potentials of every environment, adopting solutions capable of making the best use of natural resources, such as water and soil, paying attention to environment protection by a careful, wise use of synthetic substances. The selection and propagation of new varieties of strawberry and fruit trees, patented through the C.I.V. (Italian Consortium of Nurseries) research consortium, is the example of the Salvi Vivai nurseries’ commitment to give added value to our products. More exacting market demands, selection of new varieties, identification of the areas where we can express our potential and, lastly, trials in various areas to test adaptability: this is the procedure that allows Salvi Nurseries to propose new varieties to the agricultural world, with awareness and pragmatism. Salvi Vivai nurseries also guarantees the chance to reconstruct and follow the whole “course” of the plant before it is sold to the grower, according to strict traceability rules, guaranteeing safety and transparency to customers.

C.I.V.

In 1982, Salvi Vivai and two other nursery companies in Ferrara founded the C.I.V. (Italian Consortium of Nurseries), a research consortium for the main purpose of developing and spreading new varieties and techniques of innovative cultivation, by applying genetic-vegetal improvement knowledge. In order to protect the technical knowledge and energies invested, the C.I.V. holds the patents of most of the strawberry and fruit trees varieties marketed by Salvi Vivai.
